It seems that Pacific salmon are spawning in Scotland, on the River Ness. They are believed to have come from fish originally stocked into Russian rivers.

Somebody told me about this a while back, I thought it was just a rumour. I'd guess its pretty unlikely they will become established, might just fail to recruit and die out.

Been caught in the Yorkshire rivers as well...according to the oracle of the 'grapevine' last week.

Re: Pacific salmon in Scotland
While on the river a month back the EA asked me to keep a look out for any pink salmon because a few had been reported down here as well.
My understanding is that they cannot cross breed with our native fish but perhaps it is better to snuff them out asap rather than try and do it when they (just might) have become a real menace eg; Balsam and Knotweed.
I wonder if they can be caught around the coast on spinners??
