Jonboat

Lads

I'm looking to source a new "Jonboat". 14', flat bottomed, aluminium, capable of holding 3 adults. I can't find a supplier in the UK or Ireland. I believe Smokercraft do a version? Any pointers greatly appreciated.

I have a couple of the 7915 planos Mark but they are not suitable for the big soft plastics, I noticed some Fox rage transparent lure boxes in my local shop that look the job. Beautiful rods

Just taken possession of a fantastic pair of rods, buily by Marty.. ii does beg the question, is fishing all about catching fish, or else how we choose to execute it? I know, I know, we can catch then on a ha'poneth of string, and a broom handle and all derivations from there.. But, even as a kid, I...

You need a transom saver! We're talking forty quid if memory serves me right, I just cannot understand how they aren't more commonplace. Even a "smaller" outboard is going to put a lot of pressure on the transom when hanging over the back of the boat bouncing about at 50-60mph. Re: Traveling outboard position on boat

I have power tilt and trim with console steering so I have my outboard raised and dead centre on the steering, then I engage the latches and very gently lower the tilt until the latches make contact. Then I fit a product called “prop socks” which I think are good plus an OCA outboard cover on the c...

Re: What's your electronics setup?

A lot of theEuropean guys think the HDS gen 1 is better than the gen 2 and gen 3 for certain applications. Some of the serious pelagic anglers are running lss1 transducers with gen 1 and gen 2 units. New garmin megascan or whatever its called looks pretty funky. Hope I'll have something interesting...

Has anyone applied the latest upgrade to their Lowrance units? It's for the carbon, gen 3 and the elite. Usual niggles and glitches are being experiemced by some, I'm waiting till they've been ironed out.

ANYWAAY.. Big HP engines are not neccessary to catch pike, but are neccessary to power certain boats. They are expensive to run, but there is a "fun" element as well..

A good big one is always better than a good little one On big waters and on a boat that can handle the size safely . When it gets rough and you need to get anywhere safely more power enables you to get on top of rollers if your hulls right design. Wouldent use anything smaller than 50 on me big boa...

Re: Huge hp motors

It's a question of perspective, to some degree. Bear in mind Derg is over 35 miles long, and spots are often miles apart. Typically, I'd motor to the nearest area, pushing outwards all the time. At the end of the session, could be 10-20 miles from where I started, or more. An 8hp isn't great when cr...
