Re: A good casting reel?

I'd go with the casting lessons, reading what long range casters Terry Edmonds and Mark Hutchinson say the reel doesn't make a lot of difference (within reason)as long as it has good line lay it is more about technique.Mark Hutchinson was hitting huge distances with a cheapish shimano navi reel

Re: One for your diary

The saffron Walden angling club PIT(s.w.a.c.s) at mepall has done a double figure zander in the past, pingles pit is dead opposite down the track and is now a private carp syndicate run by premium carp fisheries (P.C.F)

Re: 6 to 8ft rods

People often snigger at my kit (basically because I don't have much and what I've got is a mish mash of cheap second hand stuff that just does the job. The only thing I don't skimp on is wire and hooks and occasionally I even recycle the latter? I find my 10ft Greys Prowlers (£50 each on ebay) more...

I would never use 30lb braid for pike especially whiplash ,acts like a cheesewire if a pike does a deathroll in the landing net,can cut into gill plates

I don't know about that Andrew but you can buy every part from trailer dealers to make your own surely those parts must be already certificated,I can't justify buying 1 for the price that they are new when I can make 1 for a fraction of the price, the only real big outlay would be running gear (axle ...
