new guy!!!
Hello everyone,
Im a pike guy from the Swiss alps who likes to chase after big pike in alpine lakes.
My favorite technique is to cast giant lures (40cm trouts, 2 lb bulldawgs...) while searching for the BIG one.
I will be studying in the UK starting September and figured it would be nice to join the online community.
Looking forward to contributing to this forum!!

Cheers to everyone!!
Mike J, I will be studying at Coventry Uni.
Curious to know, what rod/reel setup do you use and what lures do you have in your collection?

Ah yes Coventry, they used to have an angling circus up there back in the '80's, maybe someone on here was a member
NB Here we say up meaning North of our present location.
NB it was called a circus because it was full of clowns (joke), actually they were some of the best anglers in the UK and some still are.
....
Westin Dynamic Powercast-T 8,6' 5XH 2,59m 120- 260g Swimbaitrute x 2
Shim Calcutta 401D with bearing upgrade x 2
Spiderwire 100lb yellow with a bimini, catspaw to Chico's ex long leader with top swivel removed
Jigging Masters 250gm with Z4500 Saltiga or Gorilla 12 for a change.
Cisco Kids to Burbots, but homemade lures catch best for me.
What gear do you use?

Welcome aboard brother!
If I was ever gonna give lure fishing a proper go I think it would be with out sized lures?
(Hmmmm - got me thinking face)

Mike J, My setups are:
Tackle industries xxxh + TORO Beast 61
Tackle industries XXH + TORO Beast 61
Savage Gear Big Pike + CAlcutta 401D
Lure wise, mostly the big swimbaits from savage gear and the largest bulldawg style lures from suick and muskie innovation. As well as few giant mcrubber's and some big bucktails and crankbaits.
Dave Horton, go for it! Its a relay fun approach if you want to chaise after trophy fish.

Where about it Switzerland to you come from? I used to travel there quite a bit when younger, beautiful country. However I heard the rules for fishing varied from Canton to Canton and sometimes could be a nightmare to navigate. Is that the case in practice or just on paper?

I am lucky to live on the shores of lac Leman. What you say about the regulations is sometimes true. I can easily see why people who arent used to it may have difficulties understanding what is/isint allowed. Especial on subjects such as when should one release a fish and on where fishing is allowed from the shores of the more urban parts of the lake.

But the country is bloody expensive! I assume it's now more so to us in the UK with the exchange rate being at a near all time low.
Anyway, good luck in Coventry!
