Returning to angling after many years.
Hoping to semi retire in June if all goes to
plan.
Looking to gain some knowledge from the
forum. I did enjoy lure fishing back in the day.
Always remember treating myself to a Rapala
plug. I couldn't decide whether to put it on
the mantle piece and admire it or fish with it.
Snagged it second cast, never to be seen again.
Cheers,
Phil.

Re: Hi from Shropshire
Welcome Phil.
Good lures are expensive.
Strong main line and wire trace is the way to go.
That way you'll usually straighten the hook instead of leaving you tackle in the water or far bank foliage.
I use 88lb braid and similar wire.
I've got a short piece of aluminium scaffold pole with rubber around. When snagged I wrap the main line around it and pull. Glasses are a must though, never been hit but have had them buried in the hedge behind me.

Thanks for the tip.
Tackle has really come on since the 80's.
Cheers,
