Morning Folks

Post by bluefoxx67 »

Hi folks,
Just saying hello as I'm returning to piking after a 25 yr absence. Previously I was lucky to live on the Broads, so mainly boat fishing with deadbaits.

I now live in Somerset, so trying the drains and rivers with lures. I've had a couple of fish so far on jointed Rapalas in Fire Tiger which is promising.

Wish me luck 🤞

On the K#D, was the sluice operation, installed in 1942 as a programme to drain the levels to up food production on the war effort... also the place where there was a huge arms cache dumped into the drain by a private collector, was there once and a young lad hooked up an MI6 rifle, then several years later they found dozens of arms, including a MG42 iirc....

Bloody hell, that could make your morning go with a bang. Is that water control led by BDAA? I've mainly been fishing Langport waters to start with. Nothing big yet but disturbed a nice double the other day

Yes ... worth the walking as there are some decent features to fish to if but don't get too much fishing pressure, the cormorants are a pain. Remember fishing it with a friend who hooked up a Cormorant on there, nasty little things with a sharp beak... all ended well though!

Mmmmm not had an encounter with a Cormorant yet. Did have to net and unhook a Heron on Hickling Broad once, that was fun in a boat 😩
