Scottish Lochs

Post by goshawk400 »

Hi All.
New here to this forum .but been piking a good few years .
Wondering on peoples thoughts to fishing the lochs of Scotland. I have in recent years been having a bit opf a go at them with mixed results.
Thoughts on either float trolling deads/Lures or static Deads ?

Hi, wish I could help.
I live in Edinburgh myself and would love to have a crack. Lack of transport is an issue though.
If you have any clues on river pike in Scotland I’d gratefully accept a dm.

I fish lochs regularly, i tend to stick with deads, either float fished or legered. Also fish a river which has some huge fish, my biggest 24.12 but know of 30+ caught. Some lochs can be quite daunting due to their size and weather conditions. Most lochs dont have visible features so look for drop offs, peninsulars and marginal areas where the drop off is close in.
Be prepred for some tackle loss as some waters are littered with huge boulders/rocks and in some cases tree stumps, especially in hydro waters where the the basin has been flooded.
Dont be afraid of using big baits too, a lot of these waters have unknown potential...hope this helps
