Complete newbie

Hey everyone,

Completely new to pike fishing! Went to a few fisheries with my friend but sitting down for 6 hours wasn’t for me so decided to go for pike since there is a big river and canal system on my doorstep.

Got a rod rated 10-40g casting, guy at the shop was clueless about pike so I got 2 sets of braid. On 16lb bs and the other being 40lb bs.

I’ll be pretty much canal based. Been out twice so far and caught a jack both times. Any advice on braid and lures would be great. I really am just going on the bits of info I could get offline.
