Thurne tagging

Post by John Currie »

Many thanks to the 28 anglers who took part in the EAs river Thurne pike and bream tagging project. This is an investigation into climate change and how bream and pike behave during salt incursions .Anglers gave between a day and 6 days of there time and came from Essex ,lincs and Derbyshire to help to catch bream and pike to be hydracoustically tagged and some were pit tagged.
Andy Carpenter and Phil Grey nearly caught all the required bream between them, top marks to Andy for catching some pike as wel.Andy also wins the most days out accolade for enduring 6 sleepless nights in his seastrike!
Lastly thank you to all EA staff who attended.
It's a 2 year study, and forms part of a PhD study as well. The results will be published.
Cheers
