Straightening SP’s

Post by Flipflopjoe »

I’ve got 2 15cm SG line thru trout that we’re good baits last season.
They’ve been sat in my lure box over the summer and they’ve both developed kinks that is stopping them swimming properly.
I’d there any trick to straighten them ???
I was thinking off soaking them in boiling water the hanging them in the hope they’d straighten out !?!

Boiling them releases " Binding Polymers". Sometimes if it's not too bad simply turning them over in the box can be enough if the kink isn't too bad.

Yes that will straighten them out, don’t be afraid of holding them in for a while. Watch that steam on thy hands - it kills

It worked well !

I gave them 3 or 4 doses of boiling water in a tub then I clamped there tails flat on the edge of a shelf and let them hang until they’d cooled and they look loads better.

Haven’t tested if they swim properly yet tho.

I usually just lie mine in the sink and slowly pour a kettle of boiling water over them then take them out once cooled. Works for me and is no fuss.
