Charlie Bettell swore by that pattern. Just a coat of superglue to keep the water out, and it worked very well for him

All of the above!
- Like to compare "natural" - silver, with "gaudy" - firetiger, etc.
Also like black / white, contrasting sides or stripes, to be noticed - or maybe hedge my bets!
Suspect colour usually matters more to us that fish, though.

Firetiger isn't a colour, it's a pattern, usually made up of four colours. Which I agree, is one of the best lure patterns you can use for pike

Yeah, that combo of colours is a killer, but it seems to be it’s the green and/or orange that does the trick as I’ve had nearly as much luck with limetreuse and parrot colours and patterns.
In the past tho, fishing around the Nottinghamshire area, pearl blue glitter jelly shads were a go to for me.

I have never done very well on Fire-Tiger, I always try to have 4 go to colours with me Something Silvery, something perchy something dull and something bright, dull and bright can often be black or pink.

If I know where I'm fishing I can take that down to 2.

Are colours important? Only sometimes.

Today it was silver. Yesterday it was perch pattern. Never had a favourite colour.

I tend to use what the pike want. Firetiger works almost everywhere and in most conditions as a winning pattern. But lure colour is usually 3 or 4 down the list when it comes to deciding what to clip on the leader. I was out on one of resis last week and despite a lot of chopping and changing, both the 20's I had came on purple castaics

Sinply because if I have fished those waters regularly I tend to know what they usually want and a back up for something they sometimes want. Every water is differant and sometimes I get it wrong.
