Perks
Putting aside the problems we had on a recent trip to Spain most of the well equipped anglers we saw catch were fishing Perks. I have a few that have been gracing my "must try box" for years but seeing lads favouring them over shads made me realise that I should be paying attention.....the ones I have are 5 to 6cm long which I assume will suit perch but can I have some recommendations please....PM me if you prefer
Regards
Martin

Is this the sort of thing you mean, mate?

I tend to think of pirks as the huge things you drop down alongside wrecks for cod etc.

Re: Perks
I have used these for years and they are deadly for Perch however the larger sizes will do a good job for Pike. being tungsten they sink like a brick yet small enough to keep contact with in 30ft of flowing river

Then you'll have to stump up 20% VAT and a charge from Royal Mail as well.Woodchucker wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15 2018 16:36 -They look great.....Do BP have any restriction on posting to the UK and are there any problems with duty etc?I have used these for years and they are deadly for Perch however the larger sizes will do a good job for Pike. being tungsten they sink like a brick yet small enough to keep contact with in 30ft of flowing river

They might have their day (like the jigflies!), and it might be worth having a couple, but on the whole I don't think jigs are all that effective, compared to other methods.Steve Dennington wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15 2018 13:18 -These looked around 2" Steve and they were fishing with sharp upward rips........Is this the sort of thing you mean, mate?

Re: Perks
Hi Martin,
Yes I have Perks aka Pirks aka Amostra aka Jumping Jigs, around 500 at a guess, from high end Japanese duos, South Africian, Spanish and Brazilian, to mods and self mades.
Also dedicated rods, reels and lines, and a spare blank in reserve.
I could write ten pages on this aspect of angling and only just get started.
PM me with any or all your questions I will get you hooked up!
The hit from a big fish is literally heart stopping, there nothing in angling that is aware near comparable!

Re: Perks
I recall when Bewl Water first opened to coarse anglers that Abu 'Ricks' accounted for some good perch. Spoons or pirks? Either way, they are heavy, get down deep and caught well.
