Interview with Eric Edwards on the Lure Angling World Championship

Post by Watty »

Hi all,
For those interested, I'v just posted an interview I did with Eric Edwards after Team England competed in the Lure Angling World Championship. Crazy, hard fought comp and a good look behind the scenes of what the team was up against.
Cheers,
Watty

I didn't listen to it all, just bits here and there but I thought Eric came across well?

(It's just a shame we performed so badly face)

He was a great guy to interview and seems like the perfect bloke to have at the helm. It’s fishing, we all have bad days, shame they had one on what probably will be the best chance they had at winning one for a while. I have faith, seems like a talented team of fishermen.

Oh god, definitely, we all do!

Yes, as Eric says, the rules/penalty points system strongly favours consistency so a “bad day” on the first day essentially makes it impossible to win. 2 good days fishing by a team will win over another team that has one average and one incredible day. Broadly speaking.
Sounds enjoyable doesn’t it?!

It’s just two boats are fishing as a team, so yes, location wise if one has a bad day, all do! It was hard to watch at the time! :afraid:

Thanks, Ian. It's a genuine shame!

I'm no Eric fan but I still considered offering my time to assist marshalling but couldn't get time off work.

An interesting listen. I had fully intended to apply last year and wish I had now.
Hope they have a better year in South Africa.
