Heavy Jerkbait/Glidebait rods?
Hello all, I was just wondering if any of you could suggest a quality Jerkbait rod, with a maximum casting weight of around 140 - 160g, stiff action, good build quality and preferably no more than 7ft in length.
My budget is about £150, I looked at the BFT roots G2 rod but it is very pricey and I'm just not comfortable with spending close to £200 on a rod.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the 60H will be the choice, it will cast over its stated range as well.

free spirit rods are generally good quality.

£170 for the economy build, with non-SiC rings. Well worth adding an extra twenty quid to your budget

I might consider buying the sledgehammer but the free spirit is more likely because of the price and the fact that I tend to abuse my gear a fair bit(e.g. Throwing it down a river bank while I clamber down to the water), I would be gutted if I broke a £150+ rod.http://www.dlst.co.uk/sledgehammers.html

Although I am tempted by Dave's rods, I know they're excellent.

There’s also a rod/reel/lures set on Facebook with a 6’6” Sledgehammer. If, as you’ve said, you do abuse your rods - then buying used is probably the way to go.

I use and would recommend the Savage Gear - MPP Big Lure & Jerk 2.10m, casting weight to 150g; Not sure where you would find the best deal at the moment;

You'll need to up your budget, but the higher cost is well worth it IMO. I swear I could cast house bricks with my 7ft heavy, yet it still has enough give in it to absorb late lunges and works bigger lures with a finesse that really impresses.Hello all, I was just wondering if any of you could suggest a quality Jerkbait rod, with a maximum casting weight of around 140 - 160g, stiff action, good build quality and preferably no more than 7ft in length.

I learned I can put full force into a proper cast of that without being worried. Also the usual rigid structure - sensitive tip that you'd expect from a decent carbon fibre rod.

Btw I have a smaller Mike the Pike which i use on my local canals and it's ridiculously good, i've had countless smaller Pike over the last year on that thing, great lure!
