Street style lure fishing
A term Fox are using to promote a new range of very crap looking lure rods. Someone explain it to me - most lure fishing I do involves water

Trying to keep up with the trends, I suppose.
The nearest I ever got to street fishing was in Ely. Definitely not my idea of fishing, or fun

Street fishing is abit like the URL sea fishing around the towns, it not the size, but the location and the variety of fish being caught.
Fox would rebadge, rebrand or invent anything to make a sale!

Fishing tackle has become a consumer good, keep churning out new and (supposedly) desirable product, market the hell out of it and as soon as either demand drops or the production run is over discontinue it and launch a replacement which is an 'upgrade' (which is likely to be either be more cheaply produced to maintain the price point or the same product in a different livery).

Street fishing....for adolescents who don't have a moped so have to catch the bus to the canal.....
Seriously it's a Dutch import from the inner city canal venues.

Sounds s***e, wouldn’t be seen dead in anything “cool” like that, clothing, fishing gear, luggage, wouldn’t use it even if it was given to me, makes you wonder why the sponsored bother getting sponsored when all you get is free ninja gear.. seems fox is the main culprit for that sort of stuff

Re: Street style lure fishing
I was into 'URBN' lure fishing long before it was a 'thing'. The backdrop for my fishing was the sprawling, dystopian concrete estate where they filmed 'A Clockwork Orange'.
It wasn't my preference, but it was very local and the lure fishing was good.
I'm quite sure the fish didn't know they were 'urban' though, the same as they don't know when they're supposed to be 'wild' either. Pike are just pike everywhere.

Current trends always puzzle me, seems the in-thing is to dress like a c%nt, and use vastly overpriced blingy gear to catch fish too small to even use as livebaits. Upon catching a fish, you must exercise very strict tackle care, scratching the rod or reel is taboo, but letting the fish bounce all over the concrete is perfectly acceptable. Landing nets must be totally inadequate, but trendy and in bonny colours, the shorter and more useless the handle the better, and it must be attached to your person with a trendy cable. Post pictures of your gear at every opportunity, no need to post pics of actual catches to be a "star" though. It`s also essential to start a Youtube channel to show off your gear and promote the useless tat your sponsor sends you. Again catching fish isn`t essential, just plenty of gear footage and shots of you wandering the banks of some manky canal with porn music playing in the background....I could go on forever....makes me despair

I wonder if this bunch (if they use forums that is) include a list of their gear in their signatures like some cretins do on photography forums?

Re: Street style lure fishing
But it makes for "cool gopro vids on Instagram init bro!"
Dragging small pike through shopping trolleys and bike frames with fluffy ducks attached to Fluro traces!
We don't get it because we have respect for the pike and the surroundings, not about LIKES OR
Stateside is different sponsors pay BIG money.
Over herethe speedway racer 'wallabies' play to the manufacture, same as all those who dump lead in open water for no reason other than because it's cool and on trend
I couldn't give a s**t if I'm not liked, but like to think others would think I'm like minded when it comes to my pike fishing

Hopefully the marketing (no matter how cringe worthy) will bring fresh blood into our much loved sport.
It’s time to accept that society is changing at a rapid pace fuelled by social media and technology!
Times change and the dinosaurs die out eventually!
Next time you are at the PAC Conference (hopefully this year) look around there’s a lot of grey hair in the lecture hall!
We need young people coming into the sport to reinforce our ranks for the future!

Seems to have gone very consumer with lots of change = sales. Seems a high burnt out rate based on my experience.

some are actually really good anglers! some are clueless..
one recently was bemused because they wasnt catching on thier local..stop fiilming every jack you catch then! ?
i street fish, been to Amsterdam few times fished there, fish london , round the wharf etc, quite enjoy it to be honest, its different, looking up at all the lights and skyscrapers, sprawling metroplis, and who knows what swims in them waters, you be very suprised
Street fishing coms from italy, paris and holland, its big in paris, but paris is like london, some places are risky, but can be worth it! thats the other side of it.. the sneaking about, avoiding the loons and weirdos and youts ..and getting one over and netting a good un that in its self is a 'buzz' .
but its not for everyone.
@john milford
i know there, still fish it, but prob get bit of agg round there
