5-15 westin rod

Post by Rammer223 »

Son treated me to the above so looking for reel to match have a ninja 2500 which quite enjoy using on 2-10 gram westin , but always good to explore new stuff , so budget probably around £60 mark what’s good what’s not
Thanks in advance lee

To be totally honest I don't think you can beat the Ninja in that sort of price range.

Agreed, I can't think of anything you can buy new that touches it for that price.

I really like my shimano fx 2500 , it's entry level but it's good gear in my view

What sort of reel would be my next step up ?

Or go straight to the Ninja ?

Another ninja ordered which leaves the braid to sort have my original ninja loaded with spider wire about 13 lb breaking strain if I remember correctly and to be fair I thought it’s been good so before I go same way on the second ninja any thoughts on choice and weight of braid, as said in original post looking to try texus Carolina methods thanks in advance lee

Daiwa J8 Braid is reliable stuff. I have had no problems with various breaking strains. Have also found the Spiderwire smooth 8 to be good. Like the camouflage colour in that. I would stick with between 15 and 20lb for that set up.

I honestly doubt if colour makes any difference at all. I just happen to have an outfit loaded with it in 40lb and find it very good. Like other braids I have used that are multi coloured they can be easier to see as some sections stand out against the background depending on the conditions.

Another vote for the Daiwa Ninja and J8 braid. I have 40lb on my 10-30g set up, which is unnecessary for jacks and doubles but I like getting my lures bac

12lb cahira wire or knot2kinky would be my choice, it’s easily knotable very fine, lightweight and totally kink proof
