Traces and leaders

Post by Mologan »

Hello,

Wanted to get some ideas on the best trace/leaders for pike and perch.

So far I’ve always used traditional style traces but was thinking moving to something like Knot2Kinky. Has anyone tried this and what are your opinions of it?

Are there better alternatives?

Thanks
Morris

I've used K2K for years. Three times through the crimp, and I've never had one slip or snap.

It can be hard, esp. in thicker diameters, to get small loops in the crimps. I normally pull mine tight with pliers - and sometimes that causes the loop to snap, if I try to pull it down too tight. But if that doesn't happen during construction, the traces are pretty much indestructible.

Cahira nitinol is the same sort of thing as knot2kinky but cheaper.

I use it for all my lure fishing. I find myself preferring the multi strand stuff but couldn't actually tell you why, I just do, but I've used single and multi and never had an issue with either.

I also prefer the multistrand version for no logical reason. - no issues with single strand

Have you tried 10lb fluorocarbon?

Just joking, please don’t!!!

AFW Surflon Micro Supreme 7x7 is about the best out there, very similar to Rio Wire Bite but cheaper

Plumped for the Cahira nitinol in the end and support the small local business.

Experience has been great- ordered online, package turned a couple of days later. Very slick and impressive
