If you had an itch you'd scratch it

If you see some lures you fancy, buy them

As the meerkat said.........simples

I agree, online lure shopping is particularly addictive. But you cannot have too many lures.

It is not addictive, it is as addictive as you want it to be.

I did spend years buying exactly what I wanted and in that time bought just about every lure I felt filled a gap in my armoury. I now have plenty of baits, in fact probably a few too many.

About the only lure I buy now are Cotton Cordell Big O Saltwater stouts, I don't need them but I am a sucker for one I haven't seen before. I bought a dealer box of 10 in the same chromatic mackeral a month ago, I didn't need them.

Buy only what you feel fills a gap in your armoury, anything above that is merely choice.

There is a saying among lure addicts:

"Whoever dies with the most wins".
"He's some sort of lure savant. Or just has an unhealthy addiction to old lures. We are not quite sure . . . . . "

I'm not as bad I used to be, but do still keep adding to the collection. You know when you are beyond help when the knock on the door comes, and you don't even remember ordering them. Happened to me a few times, late night browsing, a few G&Ts and... I even have a L... URE number plate on the Quattro. LOL.

It's game fishing too. Got sucked into fly fishing last year. Spent more time buying stuff than using it..... Need a bigger shed now. Which in turn will sit next to the little boat I got so I could reach the local perch in the middle of the loch this summer.

I often find a lure I like or have some success with, then need to buy it in different colours and sizes.

Although so far I’ve managed to resist buying another Miuras Mouse after losing the 2 I had to snags recently.

It gets worse (or the lure market widens considerably) if you diversify into Bass, Stripers, Tuna and other overseas exotics. Bass fishing becomes particularly expensive when jigging snaggy terrain, resulting in multiple repeat orders of your killing soft plastic and jig combo. This kind of “essential”/replacement shopping is no longer fun!

I’ve toned the lures down a bit now.

The biggest weakness for me is reels. Buy one Exist and it’s nice to use. Add a second and then everything else becomes horrible in comparison…and I’ve got too many set ups for it to not get silly :laughs:
