Shimano Baitrunner DL 6000 RB

Post by jlawsonvet » Thu Mar 26 2020 09:45

Hi guys,

I am looking for a reel for piking which i could also use to dabble in a bit of carp fishing in the off season. I fish primarily medium sized gravel pits. I haven't got loads to spend, so looking in the region of £50-70.

I was looking at the Shimano Baitrunner DL 6000 RB as a good option, does anyone have any thoughts on this reel, or an alternate suggestion if you think its crap?

Thanks!

Any shimano baitrunner that suits your budget will be a good option 👍
Providing it’s 6000 or above

bought a 6000 rbst a few months ago after i had one of the first baitrunners ever for donkeys years it wore out, i actually went away and bought another one in 10000rb, you can not go wrong with a baitrunner and they are hard beat in terms of life they'll last you years, buy once cry once.

I’ll be honest , I knackered a couple of these in about 3 years, use them all year round for barbel/ tench/ small carp and boat fishing for pike, I’d probably go a bit higher spec if you can afford it.I don’t mind replacing them every 3-4 years at that price but if you want longevity I’d be in two minds👍I have to say I don’t look after them particularly well though!

Although the build quality's not as good as the earlier Shimano's imo but good all rounder reels for the price. As mentioned I would go no lower than the 6000's....mine take some hammer in the summer on the Barbel and on my Pike boat rods for the Winter....spare spool too 👍

Could be worth looking for a higher grade 2nd hand model though.
