Afternoon all,
Just after a bit of advice really. It's that time of year when coarse fishing slows right down, so with that in mind, I thought I'd try for a few Pike and Perch. I've caught pike in the past, but more by luck than judgement, but wouldn't mind giving it a good go until the end of the season.
I'm a member of Somerset amalgamation club, and they have a few waters which "hold" Pike. Sadly, I think they use to hold a lot more before they disappeared on the dinner plates of some undesirable individuals, but I'm slowly working my way through the water.
I'm not sure of the venue naming policy on this forum, so won't say where, but fished a river recently with wobbled roach and had 3.1lb Perch, which was a nice result, considering I've done very little "wobbling" in the past. Really would like to catch a Pike though. Not really in it for the monsters (yet) and would just like a bit of sport.
Any location pointers, or bait and method advice would be really appreciated. PM me if easier/safer, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Re: Somerset Advice
Like I told you the other day, it's been cold and northern wind will have made it harder. Continue with the wobbling and locate some pike then go back with baits.

Speed of the retrieve also helped (slowed it right down and basically dragged it across the bottom). I'm considering heading back out there this Sunday, but a week with freezing temperatures and no rain means it'll be pretty clear. If that's the case I may get the pole out.Like I told you the other day, it's been cold and northern wind will have made it harder. Considering floating a Lamprey section down under a bridge, wobbling did absolutely nothing there sadly.
