Hello everyone,
I've been making my own traces for the past couple of seasons, using Drennan trace wire and semi barbed hooks, twirled with forceps.
They are OK, but they become kinked after a couple of uses, and the cut wire ends sometimes snag the line.
I was wondering how to move to titanium trace wire with crimped ends - what brand is everyone using?
Also, how do people generally store their traces? I have a series of small tubs and bags, but they do sometimes get tangled. Are those 'rig bins' any good?
Thanks,
Ti traces

Re: Ti traces
I have used two choices on the multi strand Ti for bait traces. AFW available from Eddie Turner tackle or Nev's available from Tackle shop Gainsborough.
AFW if thinner for alleged same breaking strain. Always crimp using double barrel crimps and a cup to cup crimper. Always wire through crimp three times. Wire will far outlast the hooks so i connect using a loose loop on hooks initially and then cut hooks off and use a suitable split ring to replace hooks on those loops.
Storage on a standard rig bin for bait traces and a baccy tin for lure traces and dry out after use. I never use plastic crimp covers anymore so the crimp joint dries out. Dissimilar metals can cause a reaction / corrosion when in water.
If you search on this site using titanium or ti wire etc you will find plenty of advice. 4 traces lasted me two seasons bait fishing and only binned them as i thought it was time. I was regularly strength testing and checking and never failed me.
Crimping correctly is crucial.
