crays on the ely ouse

Post by dropped_run »

anyone else had baits smashed up this season?

i had been putting it down to eels until my mate caught one of the bloody things. its one less in the river now unfortunately, it'd basically been lassooed and constricted, shame!

thats bad news that, signals eat a lot of fish eggs IMO and will impact on future generations of fish.

as said before, great on a BBQ

It's inevitable really because the Lark is an absolute Mecca for them and has been for years.

Me and a mate were exploring bits of the lark on Kayaks a couple of months back and we found the mother lode! I'm not kidding, it was like that scene in Aliens where they find the eggs. There must have been ten thousand burrows in about a hundred yards of bank and masses of the little blighters scurrying for cover as we paddled through. It was on a bit of river than you would only reach on a canoe too.

They ruined a number of enclosed waters I used to fish. I suppose the only Godsend is that pike eat the bloody things.

I found a dead Crayfish (a biggie too) on top of a newly dredged bank on the Ely beet stretch 2 years ago.

I thought you were talking about Rony and Reggie.....thought Ely beet had employed them to keep the EEs off and stop Mr Barrett trolling !
