Theres been a thread or two about eels recently and it got me wondering. (now theres a thing - don't often happen)
They are swept here by the gulf stream as tiny elvers (they have no choice in the matter). Now the gulf stream hits the South West of England at its strongest and the Severn has historically had a large population of eels.
They can travel overland (through wet grass.....) and end up in stillwaters, so they must travel overland to get to areas on the East coast??? Right??? or can the gulf stream sweep South of England and dump them in the North sea and inland from there?
The GS hits the mainland and moves North because it has to.
Sorry this is a little convoluted (RED again) but is there or was there a large population of eels in Scotland?
