Zander in the North West?

Post by JonahJones »

The Leeds Liverpool canal to be exact

A small Zander supposedly caught by a lure angler "dropshotting" in the Wigan area.

And ..... I'm told there is a photograph.

I will try and find out more.

Heard of them turning up in the sankey st Helens canal a couple of years ago (electro fished to quite a good size if I remember rightly) not sure if they where destroyed and have not heard much about them since.

I think they would do well in the Leeds Liverpool, would make for some interesting fishing..................

Poor feckers, only a matter of time before one of them finds itself having to eek out a living in the North East. :laughs: :laughs: :laughs:

When you say "small", depending on how small, could it be a ruffe?

There have been occasional reports of zander on the Broads over the years that turned out to be misidentified bass.

Sorry I missed your reply Steve.

There is supposed to be a photo knocking around, I will try and see if I can get hold of it.
