Weigh sling for perch

Post by SalfordNovicePiker1 »

Hi guys was out on the canal the other day when I seen a guy weighing a perch he had tiny digital scales which was probably luggage scales, but the funny thing was he had a small khaki weigh sling about 15 inches wide with handles, I don't know if he made it himself or can you buy these for perch or trout etc, I have never seen one before, do anyone know can you buy uch a thing, and if so, were. Cheers guys it a strange one

Theres been a recent thread in the "wanted" section, might be worth a look. Ive recently been told that korum are bringing out a small compact weigh sling for smaller species. Not sure when/if its out yet though. Check out the korum website, looks good

Its hard to zero the scales in properly on very light plastic bags. You need a bit of weight to correctly zero them in. With this in mind the record committee wont accept fish unless weighed in a "proper" weigh sling which holds weight when wetted. A bit ott but i think they wouldnt accept neil stevens massive 9lb + river chub because of this. The heavier duty bags for life when wet weigh about 4oz are better than the really flimsy "tesco" type bags  :laughs:

It only really seems to be a problem with light weight scales and small species. Dave lumb came up with a good idea of making a sling out of net curtains, im going to go for the korum sling i think for small species on reuben fly weights and my aqua sling used in conjunction with reuben specimen dials. At the end of the day it dosent really matter unless you catch a record and i cant see that ever affecting me.

Hope you didnt weigh them tope in a plastic bag callum :laughs: :coat:

Not a cheap scate as i have got various weigh slings.
But what i do find usefull is the heavy duty IKEA bag,
Cost 50p length 55cm x depth 37cm x height 35cmwith a max load of 25kg.
