looked on some other sites, seems Iran isn't all desert with camel shaggers running all over the place, some places you would think were in the USA (Orvis fly fishing in Iran)

There isn't a fish swimming that won't eat a smaller fish given the chance.
I watched six inch dace nipping at the tail of my crayfish lures only last weekend as I tried in vain for a big perch. A few years back a mate of mine had a double figure barbel from the Great Ouse on a dead minnow. The big rudd in my local river occasionally spew up small fish in the landing net too. Ounce for ounce the little Miller's Thumb is probably the most voracious predator in the river.
