A sling that weighs 2lb.

What's it made of, chain mail? :clown:
Flotation sling for that once a season,I wish, fish whilst I get the camera ready :camera:
Although if I’m on a yomp it does get dropped for a conventional mesh sling, which I’m looking to replace but can’t find a proper quality one,any suggestions ?

Just back from my last ever eel session. Bloody things. One single bleep that was probably a bat. f**k 'em.
How many last ever feel trips you done now Dave :laughs:
I might do another tomorrow if I get some worms for a change of bait! :giggle:
I couldn't face fishing after the cricket on Sunday so I took my worms out from eight tonight...

They were all gone by eleven. Bloody bait pinching b******s.

Landed four of them though. :yahoo:

Cheers lads. It's a funny old game is eel fishing. I'd been putting all the annoying takes down to bootlaces after I landed one of about six or eight ounces.

Not as big as Kev's' but it'll do me.

3-11, the other decent one was 2-08. Only fished for three hours as I ran out of worms.

Well done
As you said Dave , eel fishing is a funny old game
I use to fish for them in Ireland when I was younger.
There was a slaughterhouse where i fished, and at a certain time of day they would open a pipe that entered the river .
They river went Red , roll on the eels .
Wouldn’t be allowed to have that pipe now
Never caught a monster ,did lose a fish of dreams .many years ago .
.while being shown how to fish correctly with a roach pole .by a friend , I did hook and land a eel which went 3lb .8 on the scales
God that put up a fight .

I might try John Sidley's method of prebaiting with road kill.

Or not!

Cheers, Kev. No it laid like that no trouble. And it had kindly unhooked itself in the net!

Mind you one of the bootlaces knotted itself around the rod and I had to cut the hooklink to get it off! :laughs:

I wish I had a spare original ET sling. Just in case. The rope loops and material are much better than current designs.

Cheers Paul.

It's interesting seeing what you can catch 'on your doorstep' when you live in an area that's not noted for decent sized fish. Eels are probably the species most likely to turn up a real surprise. Maybe one day!

You having any issues with deep hooking. I am sticking with Off bottom rigs but the heats driving me nuts as everywhere I fancy is a fair walk.

One bootlace had gorged the bait last night, the other three were all lip hooked. The two better fish took off-bottom double dendrobenas. So much for big baits/big fish.

Barry M recommended I use 7-8 inch baits, to try and keep the carp off

how far off bottom you putting your baits?

The baits probably end up about a foot off bottom using this rig. A Roberts paternoster Boom with a longer tube added and a poly ball on the link boom. Short hooklink of ten inches or less. Tangles less than Dyson/Bellars rigs and casts better too IME.
