Excellent.

I'd like to know how he keeps the eels so placid though!

The latter. I'm sure the big eel's pupils were dilated! :pipe:

I've always found eels over about 4lb to be fairly cooperative once unhooked and allowed to recover in the water, having said that, I've only had about a dozen eels over 4lb!

That was excellent. Well crafted and he spoke with passion for the eel and its conservation.

Great video - I searched it out after reading his excellent article in catch cult this month. Excellently written and well worth a read, puts my blanks into perspective when you're fishing for 3-4 bites in a season!

I have no interest at all in catching eels, but that was just a beautifully made video. Seriously enjoyed it.

I’ve never used clove oil nor would I .

It’s a thing that was rumoured to be used years ago .
I no longer eel fish as I believe that’s best for their conservation above any rig or method or handling procedures.

I think you misunderstood

Sorry was nothing against you just to any one who thought about using it I know Mr Pitts he would never use clover oil for the record.

I’m the same: no real interest currently in fishing for eels but I thoroughly enjoyed this video and hearing the thoughts of a dedicated angler. Likewise the best fishing book which I have read for some years was the Barry Mcconell (spelling) eel fishing book.

There’s just something about eels, and eel anglers!

Great video.

I have a small stream next to my house, a good way I see them is at night with a powerful torch. They’ll mostly be sat still with half their body out from some sort of burrow amongst tree roots. They slowly back into their hide away after being spotted.

Fascinates me how they’ll get into some of the places they do. I used to be allowed to fish a small pond as a kid and it had big eels in there. Was literally in someone’s back garden.
