Back on the Cats

Post by Roger5 »

Had three days last week, so went off catfishing, bit of a result, had 8 cats to 66lb, broke my PB twice, and it went like this, 40,20,66,47,40,46,61 and 50 to finish, all on halibut pellet, I would probably have tried different baits ie fish, but it's primarily a carp water, so the cats are used to hoovering up pellets and boilies, am now recuperating . Unfortunately it was my main line (braid)
About 15 foot up the line ,I can only guess that it rubbed up against something
First time Iโ€™ve had it happen (hopefully the last )

Well on the strength of my lucky few days on the cats, I thought I'd treat myself to another cat rod, I already have a Rovex catfish 4lb tc rod and also a JW monster tamer 5lb tc, as am unable to find another Rovex 4lb, I thought ok, I'll get another monster tamer, well it turned up today, put a reel on it, and gave it a bend, before it got anywhere near what a decent cat would have done to it, the rod snapped, just below the spigot on the butt section, disappointed to say the least, what I did notice though, my original monster tamer has a short butt and a longer tip section, the new monster tamer has both sections the same length, so in reality they are not the same rod, all the fittings look the same, but my one says Rovex and this new one doesn't, I've been on to the seller, and am now awaiting a reply, the only good thing is it happened before I took it fishing, that would have been seriously depressing.
