Pikepool 71....Big girls ain't easy, By Phil Wakeford

Post by dart stew laws »

http://thepikepool.blogspot.co.uk/2013/ ... eford.html

Here is another American themed article from Big Phil Wakeford on his recent (2013) trip, bear in mind this guy can make a 30 look small in his arms, so never convinced he does his photo's justice.
Phil has obviously chased a few big girls in his time and judging from the last few years he is still in the picture... thank you to Phil and enjoy.

Excellent read, got right into the feel of it.

Think you may have mentioned some sea fishing to us in the Lands End pub the other week Phil at JW's farewell book sign.

Now I know what you meant.

Thanks chaps. I know it was overly long but I just write what's in my head and submit it. Gave Stew the option of editing it down or perhaps using in two parts. Catching a 100+ tarp was a target I'd set myself many years ago and of course you gotta get your a**e to where they live to start with. No excuse for not catching a double figure bass though, which is another fish on my bucket list.

Great read again big un, I was getting regular updates and photos from "our friend with the funny handshake" but to read your account brings it all to life.
Great to be realising your bucket list mate, hope I can one day do that, top of mine at the moment is Nile Perch

Yes Ian I am sort of interested in a Big Nile Perch but it certainly looks lik we have missed the boat as far as the once prolific Lake Nasser is concerned. The words netted and scoffed spring to mind though there migh have been the odd stick of dynamite involved as well.

Yes, I must admit, I am leaning more towards the Nile itself and it's tributaries.

I hear Murchison Falls is still OK and the mile or so of river below it good for perch and crocs.

Only just got around to reading this. Very good Phil.

We have family friends who live in a place on the Indian river and ran a tackle shop near there for a few years. I have an open invite to stay FOC any time I like. All I'd have to do is fund the air travel. My sis has been a few times and loves it.

Maybe one of these days.

Glad you liked my piece Chris. Regarding "one of these days" make it happen, or you may never get around to it. Time has a habbit of slipping by.
