Recently moved house, thought I’d try one of the local club waters to see if it could be worthwhile for some relaxing summer fishing,Thought I’d start off with maggots, not having any previous info on this small mill pond,1st dip in with a 5 mtr whip brought a 10oz roach, mental note take some corn next time, had about 15 roach and perch up to 10oz then lo and behold the gudgeon moved in,haven’t caught any since I was a kid but boy were these clonkers,
Had a quick walk round after packing up and found a big perch dead in the reeds,a 2 pounder,so me thinks they are getting fat on the gudgeon
Had about 30 all told all this size, was late meeting the wife by I was having fun reliving my childhood,Childhood memories

Re: Childhood memories
The last gudgeon I caught was about a third of that size. Still squeaked at me though.

Re: Childhood memories
Didnt really do fishing when i was a lad. Been about plenty rivers and woods n stuff. I remember though the huge shoals of minnows. Millions of minnows. Couldnt see the bottom. Know that way you look at tv or some shape close yer eyes and they are still there. Got that effect with the shoals of em. Taking up fishing in my late 20's ive still never seen shoals like that anywhere. And they were absolute belters.

Re: Childhood memories
As kids we used to catch gudgeon that size from the river Cray.
The same stretch that Alfred Jardine fished in Bexley.
We used to wade upstream with trousers rolled up, with a net and creep up on them.

My opinion may offend, but it's only an opinion that may differ to your's.
It doesn't make me wrong.
