Caught this the other day on light float tackle, guesstimated around 5lb,caught on corn and gave me the best fight I’ve ever had from any fish, the initial run took me down to the knot on a shallow spool, about 80 yards !!!,and I was hanging on hoping it wouldn’t snap me.15 minutes later finally got it in the net and it suddenly dawned why it had been such a struggle....it was hooked on the tail, stunning colours and great sport .A bar of gold

No other fish in the pond.
There must be some amount of insect life in there.
Or corn.
Ive found how a trout tastes is dependent on what it eats. Rich insect life plenty shrimps etc = pink flesh and good eating.

Just spotted this Nigel, that is one beautiful Trout, I can understand how you would have had a great fight from him.
Nice and fat too for a wild fish and in great condition.
Very jealous face
Will.

stunning looking fish Nige,
had some nice wild browns when after grayling a couple of years and didn't realize how pretty they are.

They’re crafty little beggars,I got them rising under my feet in 3 foot of water, trickled in 1/4 pint of maggots and only 3 takes, more frustrating than Lumby’s eel fishing
