Either that one or hopefully a bigger one Jason. I've left the Barbel alone with the low River levels and high water temps. They are really cute bites, some are good sail aways others hardly move a pole float bristle.

Nice isn't it. I use a 15ft rod with pole floats and small cubes of luncheon meat or chopped worm.

use to fish a local farm pond 35 years ago and fish amongst the lilies for them.
Unfortunately no longer there or would have a bash.
Some scrap from such a compact fish

We used to fish a well-known club lake in Surrey a good few years ago for these great fish. We used to catch them on the float very close in, but miss far more bites than connect very frustrating but good fun. A nice 2.12 for me in a mixed bag.

Then articles were written about fishing small method feeders semi-fixed on this venue and it took the place apart. Every man and his dog was on it, a couple of us walked away. I could not then and still cannot now see the joy in fishing in this manner for these fish.

The fish I see now on social meedja look tatty as hell. Perhaps it's me, but I could not derive any pleasure from "bagging up" on a semi-fixed method for Crucians. They are to me a fish of the summer and the dipping float. Each to their own mind, but perhaps that's why I never got a sponsorship. :tongues:
