Re: Sea fishing rigs
Thanks boy,Not going sea fishing yet, just want to use some of their rigs for my pike fishing, looked on you tube etc,but need to have it on a bit of paper in black and white so I can take it all in......Who knows, what with pike almost being extinct and if we do end up moving nearer the sea, might take up a bit of beach fishing,f**k the boat fishing though.

Alright mate, If you go on Planetseafishing.com and click on “rigs and traces”, there’s a whole online list of sea rigs with descriptions of how they work and how to tie them

Re: Sea fishing rigs
A lot of the local sea fishing lads buy their rigs in bulk ready made from the online places.

Re: Sea fishing rigs
Hi Mick
Sea rigs are basically beefed up freshwater styles or self-hooking systems involving grip leads.
The best bream rig is a Christmas tree of circle hooks baited with toughed bits of squid tentacle.
The most effective rig Ive borrowed from sea angling was a clipped down beach rig for distance fishing using strips of mackerel belly.
The live bait rig I use the most is modified paternoster using a Roberts bead and breakaway lead, simple but effective.

Re: Sea fishing rigs
As said, the Fox books are good. They do a shore edition and a boat edition. Very similar style to the Fox pike book.
Also, The Sea Angler's Step-by-Step Guide to Bait and Rigs. Lots of good clear photographs and illustrations.

Re: Sea fishing rigs
There is free e book on sea rigs, links on https://www.worldseafishing.com , print out the parts you want and off you go
The fox books are maybe 10-12 years old now and Fox have pretty much pulled out of the sea market, so where in their book they will say something like, "tie on a Fox piecost , then attach a Fox doofer" Tronix, Breakaway will be calling their piecosts and doofers different names.
Youtube is loaded with sites which tell you ow to tie the rigs up but more importantly how they actually work.
I have the e book here but can't seem to add an a attachment, sorry
