Liquidised prawns.

Post by Bob Watson »

Thinking of doing it for a perch groundbait, anyone tried it with any success?

Yep πŸ‘,I always add some fishmeal base mix I have with some of the Sticky baits krill glug.
In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Bob I have had some success using chopped prawns with chopped worms and dead red maggots mixed in then fishing a whole prawn or lobworm over the top. In terms of groundbaits I dont think it matters too much for perch as its more to attract to silvers so have used Sensas river, lake etc and brown or red crumb. I did have some big perch out of the Oaks and some out of Brafferton (over 2lb) fishing Baitech Tuna and Krill in the margins though while targeting carp.

hi bob
red maggots and chopped worms seems to work for me , with maybe a bit of red robin mixed in , just to draw the bits in
with either a live or dead roach / perch on the hook

I was thinking of using it neat as an attractor, so very minimal free offerings where bites are few and far between.

Bob if that's what you're after you could try fishing either cotton wool or a sponge soaked in predator plus or similar in a swim feeder.

I dont think there's much carp dont like Bob! Perch, chub, ide and tench do seem to respond well to it too though.

Word of warning, don't use liquidised crabsticks, tried it for an alternative cheaper idea but it's a waste of time. I do prefer to use 1 prawn on the hook and a couple of chopped prawns around it.

Carp seem to like both cooked and raw prawns.

Are perch the same, or has anyone noted a preference for one or the other?

Bought some raw to try just before the recent restrictions, they're in the bait freezer, I'll see if the tench like em'!!

Bob prawns, cockles and mussels are all worth trying for the tench, especially in the margins.

Carp will beat the perch to prawns or prawn flavoured baits in Autumn and spring.

Personally I'd use livies if carp ate present.
