Mullet time.

Post by Mike J »

Hot water, lots of shrimp and prawns in the shallows with plenty of fish active as the tide flooded last night. 6s being caught with a 7 on the previous spring tide.
Reports of a near record Golden Grey being caught only the other day.
Bread feeder and popup on a q tip being the in method.

Was on the Southwest coast Mike in Devon and was watching 2 guys fishing, there was a rock outcrop that was at the point with an infeed, could not believe it when they spent the whole day fishing off a clear bottom, when I sat on the outcrop for 45 min there was some clonking Mullet and a decent Bass put in an appearance. I think the extra 300 yrds on shingle put them off walking, gin clear but the seagulls made a commotion a few times diving into what I believe was bait fish driven up by predators

Get in there

The lack of wind in recent weeks has led to to some really clear water right now, simply perfect for lure fishing from the shoreline so Im forsaking the mullet for the bass over the next few days.
A lure angler I spoke to last night had just released a 5 and had caught a 6 at the weekend and told me he was going to have a go at the mullet, not with bread but with a fly rod.
The real aficionados were out last night catching sole, a friend who is a sole specialist has been getting 3plussers, to his eyes that lovely looking fish and best of all he releases every one he catches.
