Back in the 80s early 90s I belonged to a carp syndicate and I turned up to fish only to find a film crew there, most of the members were contacted to stay away for the day or two but I didn’t get the message. While I waited for them to finish the end monologue I got chatting to one of the film crew who obviously was not a angler and he innocently told me the fish featured a mid 20 fully scaled was caught in a snag tree ( out of bounds) moved and re hooked for videotaping, the angler in question was probably the most famous angler in the country then . I had mixed feelings about it but a little disappointed they did it so I’m guessing it goes on all the time.
It’s quite sad someone has leaked footage to cause damage to his reputation and embarrassment
The other side would I like it if someone did this with a 35lb pike on Chew , absolutely not .

Film content and editing purposes, the only surprise is that people are 'surprised'. Where there is a commercial interest or possibly an 'Ego' at heart there will always be elements of manipulating of content, wasn't there a whistle blow at the BBC for the Attenborough 'Wild Planet' in reference to things not always as it seems.

If MB did or didn't .. it won't be a crime of the century, we all put hooks into them after all, I'm more concerned over the muppet show which runs this country!

The voiceover would be pretty easy to fake as MB's voice if you have the software and know-how, but his own response suggests that it is him and that the footage is legit. I must admit, I thought it was highly suspect that the video never showed his face and appeared deliberately cropped to avoid doing so.

think it happens a lot when cameras are involved and you can edit 2 weeks on a river and only one barbel....

all looks good when its shown on the video.....

It's mildly amusing, I think the anger directed at Bowler is way over the top. Nothing more pious than the modern day Barbel angler and there esteemed Prince of the River .

Over in the states influencers change shirts over and over with Steelhead, Bull Trout etc between photos.

Modern day angling demands success and super sexy up close videos. The real world of blanks, tangles, falling in or on your a**e does not cut the mustard. Instant gratification is all important.
