Might as well kick things off in this section Ive lived in Morecambe for a good few years now and work in the main tackle shop there and im always hearing about Mullet being spotted but never really gave them much thought until recently.
I got a little black labrador not long ago and obviously they need a fair bit of walking so living near the sea front i usually walk her down there and ive started noticing that there are TONS of Mullet very close to the shore in one or two spots.
Im going to have a go for them tomorrow, my plan of attack is to take a waggler rod and floatfish Maggots. Might take some tiny Shrimp rigs and some bread for if the Maggots dont work. Any of you guys got much experience of catching/attempting to catch Mullet?

Mullet are certainly a challenge to put it mildly, bread is a favorite bait for them and if you do hook one be prepared for a good scrap. A very cautious fish to try and catch
if there are any sewage outlets near to where you are fishing try sweetcorn, as you probably know sweetcorn isnt really designed for our digestive system so lots of it gets washed out with the sewage, can be a really killer bait for Mullet in the right place and conditions

That has to be the most unsavoury post I've ever seen on a fishing forum - but quite brilliant

eww gross, true enough though i remember watching one of John Wilsons shows where he was sat on some rocks above a sewage pipe down Devon way and all this horrible brown s**t was flowing into the nice blue sea and there were loads of Mullet sifting through it all. I believe he said it would probably be best not to eat them considering what they were feeding on!
A good tip for mullet fishing is to completely cover the hook in bread , fold a piece of bread over the hook then nip all the sides like a mini bread pastie.
Good tip there Rick. Was gonna go yesterday but it was blowing a gale so never bothered. The water near the shore gets really muddy on big tides and high winds and makes visability terrible. Il have a go another day when its the right conditions.
