Travel Rod

I am supposed to be going to Portugal in May and wanted a basic travel rod to take with me.
After a lot of soul searching as I have more rods in my attic than I will ever need really I risked £21:31 on the above.
After just over 3.5 weeks it arrived and I am shocked at how well made it is

Take care.
In Por you need a licence to fish anywhere.
In the salt you buy it from an ATM using your passport number where it asks for your ID. Bag limit 10kg/day. Different licences are needed for shellfish and cephalopods. No fishing in certain areas eg; around sewage outlets, harbour entrances, etc.
In the fresh you need to go to the Agriculture Offices, mine cost €1.50 last time, you can fish anywhere that isn't surrounded by a fence.
Tackle will be confiscated if you fish illegally. Be away from any stillwater before the sun sets or the mossies will eat you alive.

Have a good time, the weather should be ideal.

Turns out its best to follow this link and apply for it in advance. Although with all this madness going on I think we will not be allowed to travel

Albufeira. Beach is about a 2 hour walk long. Seen lots fishing it along the beach but fancy trying it off the rocky outcrops myself.

Yes I know the place.
Its a cold sea before July and that means bass and bream are the main species available.
The locals fish the rocks from Faro right around the Cape up to Porto, some of their methods are way beyond anything I have seen elsewhere, its well worth sitting behind someone to watch and learn. Everyone under 50 will speak English and if your opening gambit is tem peche you'll be off and running.*
Bait fishing with shrimp (what we call prawns) and shellfish is the most popular method because the tackle costs less, the younger element tend to lure fish more.

* the Por equivalent of our 'have you caught anything.'

The travel rod you bought looks very much like the more expensive Berkley naumad:

and Savage Gear hitch hiker
https://savage-gear.com/products/rods/hitch-hiker-ccs

but with a changed reel seat.

Used these for Pike, carp and then on hols. Had cats to 45lb, Grouper to around 50lb, tarpon into 20's and plenty of other stuff.
Same blank I believe as the old ET sneaker. I have 3 of them... versatile and fit in the case.
Love the hit!

I have a couple of those too, perfect for taking on holiday. ET had some 2ft sections made up so they can be 11ft or whatever, just insert it between the butt and first section. they are great value for money too.
