Yes, i mean Kevin Baynes in Staffs. The most perfectionist rod builder i have met. Kevin takes his time making a rod but oh so worth it. Roger Hurst gets an honourable thumbs up from me too.

Great guy but time is not something that concerns him.

Could not agree more that Kevin is entertaining and a true character. He gave me a talk and demonstration on how rod rings affect blanks for over an hour. The other customers just had to wait in-line for their chance to be served. I found it all very amusing! He liked me so agreed to put high grade cork handles on my rods to be re-built which i wanted and which he rarely agrees to.

I understand he's retired now, he had a refreshing attitude to ringing (as in line guides).
I wish I'd made the journey to Staffs when I was up that way a couple of years back.
I don't think he ever went larger than 30mm in the end.

Yes, Kevin was not for large rings on the tip section of a rod as the weight reduced the action and recovery of the blank.

30 mm ring set was his standard but he did 40 mm ring set on my century rods as they could take it.

Yes, i understand he is now retired, but he was a gent and a top rod builder.
