Savage gear (sladle type)

Post by nigel savage »

They are quite deep in depth, compared to E.T.'s, so a fish is not supported off the floor in an Anglian water type "Coulham" boat etc.

I had one and agree we your comments, they are far too deep.

Sold mine and got a sladle.

Tried one in my 12ft Seastrike, bought it of E bay for a song Im guessing they had the same issue! far too deep the fish touches the decking, shame really as it looks well made, almost looks like SG took a Carp type release weigh sling and extended the support arms. A half arsed effort that actually does more harm to the fish than a good mat in if used by someone that didnt know better.

Agree had mine for a few years first time I took it out realised it was too deep and been in the attic since! They have changed the boats on my local now though so will have to give it a try it on those.

I tried that with mine, I was still not happy with it. It seemed to pinch the fish up at the bottom and it wasn't a particularly kind material to a lively fish. Not sure if that is because I rolled it up as you described and the bottom of the mesh could not sit flat or not. As it was too deep to use as designed I couldn't say.
