Quest for barbel, west and miles.

An inspirational book for me back then...

That was the other one but I couldn't remember the name, as you say inspirational, the mind set that is adopted by some anglers in their quest is truly inspirational!

I'm glad I read the Fred crouch book 1st and the Miles and West one second, old school to new school!

I definitely caught more big barbell because of these writers!

Cheers Alan

Had some strange ideas, but his basic approach was spot on.

Everything I've read by southern barbel anglers has been b******s as far as fishing northern rivers is concerned. :laughs:

Another thumbs up for the Steve Stayner books .. particularly as a lot of it is based
on fishing the Trent my local river, found a lot of useful suff in there.
Archie Braddock books are good as well if you fish the Trent.

Tony and Westy's book , although excellent, is geared to the small rivers they fished.

Didn't someone say the Undestanding barbel book ... should have been named Understanding Fred Crouch ?

Wise words.

I only have two, Tony and Trefor's and Fred's.
I prefer Fred's because he was fishing the rivers I know and his methods more reflective.

Another good little book is the amazing meat book by Andy Orme if you are using meat as bait.

Shouldn't think you'd need to pay more than a fiver for a copy.
