Esox Lucius by Mick Cutler and other contributors

Post by Muskie »

I bought this book on the strength of other recommendations on this forum and i have to say this is a book of rare quality.

The vrious pictures of pike are awe insiring (some are absolutely massive and nice to see contained in one book) and the book is multi-dimensional with a smorgasboard of different chapters covering select aspects of pike fishing rather than just stories of pike captures and it is all the better for this.

Credit to Mick Cutler for selecting the contributors who have written their individual chapters very well.

The book is well produced and is one i shall re-visit i am sure on numerous occasions as i already have done so. Highly recommended.

Thanks guys! Your positive comments are so greatly appreciated! And to those yet to read……I hope you enjoy it.

Muskie – you nailed it! I didn’t want this book to be exclusively about big pike (although there’s plenty) as we’ve already seen Mega/Ultimate/Dream/Extreme etc. In covering other aspects of the piking spectrum it was also about giving an insight on the endeavours - from many people at various levels -which have made the sport what it is today.

Andy – you’re right. So few left now, they can just trickle out.

I got my copy a couple of weeks ago and went straight to the John Costello and Nick Peat chapters. Really, really good and have a lot of it left to read.

Had mine for a while now Dave & deliberately decided to stretch it out by reading one chapter at a time, Would be so easy to plough through it in one hit!

Meant to say that if you listen to anyone then you should listen to Ken Crow,he was looking after pike and pike fishing a million years ago and the result is that that ressie of his still does the buisness

What can I say?! Thank you all, once again! Your comments really mean a lot to those behind 'ESOX lucius' and to myself. It makes all the effort seem so worthwhile.

With sales demand exceeding expectations, and overwhelmed by the response, we hope that in this dark year of 2020 the book provided some brightness.

Best wishes to everybody for a better future in 2021!

What a book!

i bought a copy on the strength of the pit reviews...and i am not dissapointed!!

The Peter Mann chapter was awesome for me, im lower lea valley boy

some of the chapters that eally fired me up, Rob C, Paul Sharman, John Costello, Sam M, Nick P..so many, excellent chapters, and a great read, something very much needed in thee boring times of lockdown!

i wonder if anyone will ever do an Urban book..or one on unlikely or random pike captures!
