How appropriate that it was made in Tattershall. :joker:

:giggle:

The previous owner had glued sponge rubber into every compartment πŸ˜• (You can imagine how that pongs after all those decades!)

I've managed to clean up about a third of them so far, although the only thing that will shift the horrible residue is nail varnish remover. Now nice, gleaming aluminium on the ones I've finished - but I've had to quit for the day as the fumes are knocking me out! :drunk:

I'm sure it'll look exquisite when it's all clean and filled with lures.

The left side trays and centre tray are now sorted. Just the right side to do, once I come down off the cieling :drunk:

Photo next week when it's full of lures.

Finally got the old 'Easy-Pac' case cleaned and loaded up. Tried all sorts of cleaners on the inside of the lid, but whatever the residue is, it won't shift. Might have to resort to a scourer on it? 😬

All the trays have cleaned up nicely though

Do you not think John, that it would be better with a bit of sponge rubber in the bottom of the compartments to help protect the lures :laughs: :exit: .

I have just bought a new box myself which, I think you will approve of, I will try to get some pics posted tomorrow or later this week.

Will.

Here you go guys, a proper Pike lure!
IMG_1408.JPG
From Minnesota USA a handmade mid '80's Rat Man Pike Lure......all 12" of it.
A rarely seen and much sought after handmade lure last produced in the '90's and reputed to be the very first lure that combined a plastic tail with a wood body. Amazing action and a show stopper whenever the maker set-up his demo tank at the Tackle Shows of that era.

Swum just the once, never fished and still with its original tube and stopper.

I remember drooling over the 'Rat Man' pike the first time I saw one. Lovely baits Mike

But (sadly not one of mine) . . . . 1950's :rasp: :clown:

Nice lures chaps

This is a crop of an old lure ad from the 40s/50s (possibly earlier) which I pinched from google images for my library....just shows that very little that is actually claimed as new or innovative, is such

Typical of the yanks, always telling everyone they were the first but never been there, bit like the moon.
They even made a film about how they nicked an Enigma from a sinking U boat when it was actually recovered by a RN officer.

I actually a have a lure made clam shell and boar hair with the hook fashioned from a nail that was made by a Polynesian islander just after WWII.
Will post a pic when I can find it.

I'd really like to see that Mike  The ingenuity and craftsmanship of lures, hooks and gorges made by Islanders, Native Americans and Inuits is fascinating and predates some 'modern' ideas by hundreds, if not thousands of years (e.g. 'Circle hooks').

There's quite a market for that kind of stuff too

I always thought those Ratman lures looked like they'd been made by Ratman's toddlers.

These are my favourite "pike shaped" vintage cranks....the old Pike Casters (not my pic, pinched it off the web)

I've never used it Mike nor did the person who gave it to me Darren Lord he got 2 years ago because someone he knew had a caught a big fish on one out of Windy but there the story ends he didn't ever use his and had even less use for a spare so I got it !!....I have never wet it but it has got dirty and dusty hanging up in my workshop, probably I did have the packet it came in once but not now
