That`s how I do it Jason, won`t buy anything that I wouldnt use/ don`t intend to use.....the main trouble being getting out enough to fish them all

I've seen a few knarly looking Heddons and I think I'll have a little play after my final trip out of the season tomorrow.

We like gnarly looking Heddons

Somebody liked that collection too, as they sold! The Tadpolly was my favourite, followed by the River Runt :pipe:

Not great pictures in the listing, except for this tantalising glimpse of the new home for my vintage Heddon River Runt collection.

The box arrived - a proper bobby-dazzler! The fish design on the handle is a great little touch. Just need to organise its new residents . . . .

They look happy in their new home!

There are still a couple of gaps in the collection (scoop-nosed 'Go Deeper, for one) but these are mostly 1930's - 1950's vintage Runts. (Plus few later ones in interesting colours). I've no need to fish with any of these, as I have enough of the later model versions, of the various sizes, to keep me amused on the bank :pipe:

Lovely collection there mate....you need some of the really old wooden ones too, before they changed the head shape to the classic style, like the one below  Pretty sure I have a flyrod Runt kicking around in the lure cave if you`d like another for your box. I won`t be using it....

Yup, the #110 wooden River Runt is on my look-out list mate  Not often seen from UK sellers and, as you know too well, postage from the US is a deal breaker most of the time

What has been just as enjoyable Will, was finding a few more duplicates (in less vintage versions) than I thought. (They've gone straight into my 'user' boxes).

I also spotted that one of my two oldest XRY floating Runts is a 'crossover' lure - which US collectors get quite excited about. It's got the early 1930's/40's two-part 'flap' hardware on its belly, but a modern era one-part 'surface' hanger on its tail. It's minutae really, but it means it was made during 1950 when the new hardware came into use, but some older metalware stock was still being used up.

(I know, I know - it's bordering on an illness! :laughs: ).

Snap! Back in the room . . . .

The Heddon Sonic (introduced in 1957) and 'Firetail Sonic' (introduced in 1958). I've still got my eye out for the larger 2" bodied 'Super Sonic'.

White eyes replaced gold or yellow eyes in 1962 (oops, there I go again . . . . :red: :laughs: ).

The penny blacks of fishing lures are the Gregory 'Cleopatra' (British) and 'Haskell Minnow' (USA) - more like 'Holy Grails' than penny blacks Martin!

There is no special name for Lure Collecting, but I'd suggest 'Equidemery' - with a lure collector being an 'Equidermerist'.

(Lumby's probably right though :geek: ).

'Equidemery' I like it and has that slightly disreputable sound to it like philately does. :pirate:

Geeky is an accolade really.
