The winfield shanny in silver/blue/red was my killer lure for pike, perch, and trout on our local lochs.
I never rated their Mepps type lures though. I paid the extra for a droppen.

Not much to go wrong with spoons and the 'Shanny' was a decent enough 'Toby' type spoon.

Agree entirely about cheapo blade spinners being a false economy. Unless they are made spot-on, 'looky likies' too often have a tendency for the spin to stall, or only work within a narrow speed range.

Woah!

Unmarked Gregory 'Nickel' Spinner just popped up on eBay! Listed as a 'Cleopatra' (which it isn't) it is nevertheless a super-rare old bait.

I'll have my eye on it, but I think it will be too rich for me by the time it closes (or some pirate will wave a big wad at the seller before the end date  ).

Caught my first pike on a Winfield Yellow Phantom. Thanks John, I never knew what the lure was called.

This glass-eyed South Bend 'Bass-Oreno' in 'Green Scale' is at least 82, possibly 92 years old. Just a couple of tiny 'pointers' in the superb paint finish and came with a few other nice old plugs this week for less than £20!

(Gotta "keep 'em peeled", as Shaw Taylor used to say :pipe: ).

Boom! This popped up 'buy it now' on Ebay yesterday!

Mint 'Strawberry Spot' pre-WW2 'Bass Oreno'. Sometimes they just know where their home is! :yahoo:

I like the hook holders on that lure . I have some old spar-x cut plugs have similar . But the pin through the lures has large swivels then the hooks.

It's nice when you can get something like that on a 'buy it now' that you are prepared to pay, few and far between  well spotted John.

The 'Nickel Bait' went for just under £580. I didn't bid as I already have two of them, which I bought as a pair. Not cheap, but somewhat less than £1,160! :pipe:

Thought I’d seen that type of pattern before.
I have a Heddon Vamp Spook in a draw.

Nice one! I used to have one just the same, but now disappeared somewhere into the mists if time. Where do they go? (guess I must have swapped it at some stage, as I'm sure I never lost it).
