You wouldn't know if a foster bros of ashbourne lure/tackle box (metal) would be worth anything would you pls?

I have it listed but a bit blind i must admit

steve
Nice box. I have one very similar Steve, but without the Fosters retail sticker. (I like to keep my vintage lures in vintage boxes from roughly the same era).

A fair enough starting price, I reckon, but it will probably go for more.

(First picture)
All Shakespeare 'Paw Paw' series baits Steve, 1970s.

The three lipped baits are all 'Pike Getum' (based on the Creek Chub 'Pikie').

The jointed bait is a 'Dragon Fly' (based on the Creek Chub 'Darter').

Bottom row - 'Klatter Kat' (based on the Heddon 'Sonic') and a Shakespeare 'Pup'.

(Second picture)
Straight version of the 'Dragon Fly'

(Third picture)
Looks like a re-painted South Bend 'Babe-Oreno' (or one of the many copies?).

There's a post about Nevisons midway down page 4 of this thread Steve.

Boxed and still in their cellophane is far from common. You've got yourself a nice old bait there!
Not tremendously valuable, but a good £10 - £15?

You might have seen me mention elsewhere that collecting is as much about finding interesting old stuff, as it is about value. (Although a bit of value never hurts! :pipe: ).

Your 'natural bait spinner' is one of the less usual ones Steve. It's painted gold (for use with a dyed 'golden sprat' salmon bait) which you don't see very often. Mint, carded and boxed too, which is always good!

Hooks aren't an area I go into much, but there are people who collect them. They're 'blind' trebles for making up whipped rigs or mounts for Devon's, Phantoms and wagtails.

So think i might get some of expenditure back lol

If i sell though

I might put on for silly price and sell if offer comes in

It's an 'Eskimo' Steve, 1990s. A European lure by Jensen (or someone like that) if I recall correctly. I think Ryobi marketed them in the UK.

There were versions with two and three tail sections that were funnier looking still!

Quite possibly the worst abomination of a lure I've ever seen!

The 'Spider Lure' from the Turner Co., Missouri. Marketed as a 'lure', but it looks more like a 'stink bait' holding fish trap to me?

(Don't think I'll be bidding on this one!).

:afraid: :afraid: :afraid: .

I would agree entirely John, however, if you do buy it, it might save some poor fish from a fate worse than death if some knacker were to buy it and actually use it, at least you will never use it !

Will.

It's a 'jig spinner' and probably made of lead. John will be along to be more specific!

No I won't - I don't mind helping fellow collectors with a genuine interest in old lures, but ebayer 'mrt2-50' can come up with his own valuations and descriptions from now on!
