Some lucky beggar, with no idea what it is, has just put a 'Vintage fly fishing reel' ( Coxon Aerial!! ) on fleabay.

Will it run, or will some pirate of a collector wave a grand at her and steal it? (Way too rich for me, but one to watch  ).

PS: I've just made a bid and it's currently the top one  . Not for long, I expect . . . .

Looks like someone has made her an offer she could not refuse John, the reel has been withdrawn from the auction.

This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

Will.

Happens all the time. I spotted a mixed lot with a 'Clipper' lure a few weeks ago (worth several hundred pounds on its own) lurking amongst a pile of mostly tat.

My bid was cancelled on that too - only for the tat to be re-listed a few days later with the 'Clipper' clumsily photoshopped out of the pictures! :laughs:

My mate Alan popped across this afternoon with these little beauties for me, a pair of old Speedia centrepins. Old and well used but very free spinning. Hoping to do a bit of bait fishing through the summer with them

Nice, speedias are still pretty sought after from what I've seen on the net.

A couple of old clunkers I found in my reel draw they really wobble horribly when spun, adjustment required :laughs:

I don't know, you buy one little reel on impulse and before you know it it's grown into the start of a collection!

I blame you, Mark Houghton! :clown:

My buying is out of hand just now .... but how can you not buy this lot at £169 for 120+ lures. There’s some nice vintage stuff amongst & im hoping I’ll find s few gems among them that I’ve not spotted yet.

No interest to me unfortunately, but their prices are very sensible, so i`ll keep an eye on that seller. Cheers for sharing the link Jon

Has anyone owned a Daiwa EL2L baitcaster? Just wondering if there’s a demand for them from collectors as with some others?

No idea about collectability Jon, but generally, the left hand versions of older baitcasters do command higher prices on the likes of ebay, due to them being less common.

No idea what their value is in that condition, John, but safe to say you certainly got your £1`s worth with that one

Me neither Mark. I could only find one listed on eBay. That one looks like it has been run over by a bus and isn't even working - and they're still asking £20!

You could probably get a fairly accurate value on it in one of the Abu collectors groups on FB John....

Once you pop you can't stop! Two more vintage Pflueger baitcasters added to my collection last week.

Their top-of-the-range 'Supreme' in satin Nickalum and a 'Summit 1993L' in German Silver. Both run pretty sweet, considering they are pre WW2, but will soon be getting a good clean and re-oiling. The Supreme came with papers, tool and spares, so I might even give it an outing at some stage.

Nice those John....do each sideplate of the Summit seperately - if you strip them fully down, realigning the frame can be a pain
