Old imagery
What have you got? Anything that captures the time (doesn't have to be about fishing).
But I'll kick off with an old piking picture. I don't who this is - anyone recognise him? (From the cover of 'Fishing' Magazine, August 1968).

Re: Old imagery
Not sure this is worth old imagery John? But when I used to do an awful lot of Barbel fishing this rod was sold to me by a GSC member. It's inscribed to Jon "guido" Berry. I believe the nickname of "Guido" came about from an opening night jape in a pub garden and most of the GSC were present and that Jon set off fireworks in the pub garden hence his nickname. Must be twenty years or more back that.
But hey, the rod has served me well.

Re: Old imagery
The embryonic Dartford-based PAC committee approached Jim Gibbinson as a potential President, but he was not up for it. He was very courteous about it and extremely flattered to be asked, but he did not really consider himself a 'Pike Angler' - he was obviously no slouch at it though! A tremendous all-rounder.
(Luckily for us, John Roberts accepted soon afterwards and was a brilliant and enthusiastic President. Really miss old JR

They are the two pics that really made my jaw drop when I first saw them.

Re: Old imagery
See if I can dig out a picture in Angling times (I think) when Michael Linton caught the 44lb(I think) from Ardleigh,And that was it, the whole world knew about it,if he had kept his mouth shut,he could have had it to his self...I remember saying to my mate Alan, that everything that comes out of there was big ie roach tench perch etc,I kept saying that we should get down there,Then the 44lb came out and the rest is history

Great photo's there, and some depictions maybe not so great. Small snapshot ( pardon the pun) of our great sport/pastime/ hobby over the years.

'Anglers World' cover shot.
Note the float - that is the second 1960s picture I've found showing a streamlined continental float being used for pike fishing. Maybe slimmer floats was not the 1970s piking innovation we thought it was after all? (Not using gaffs was though!!!).
