Re: Owls
and a pair of little owls from a couple of weeks ago. A very poor record shot - noisy, mushy and over sharpened! They were in the shadows and at the full extent of my 400mmm plus a 1.4tc and still a massive crop. But now I've got the location I can work on getting closer...

There were lambs in the field too so that was a no no, so I was shooting from the other side of a stone wall on a back road. I do know where there's a pair in an old cemetery too though, which might be an easier option. I just feel a bit weird sat there with the camera!!!Love little owls. They give you such a hard stare! That looks like a nice setting for more photos.

Re: Owls
I sat in an old graveyard for an hour watching woodpigeons taking nesting material into a tree a few years back while waiting to pick my car up from the garage. They can be picturesque places.

There's a charitable group looking after the graveyard now, I just hope they don't clear all the overgrown-ness, that's what makes it special for me. It's quite a notable cemetery for the areas local history, and has over 10,000 gravesThat Graveyard looks such a magical place

Re: Owls
I like all the shots but the grave yard ones are the ones i like the best. They've got a very ancient forgotten about look to them. Could have a bit of photoshop fun with the 2nd one and add a dawn of the dead look to it. I love taking moody photos, but having a play with them and letting your imagination go wild is great fun too.
Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room.

Back to see the little owls, only one of the pair this time but nicely sat in the barn window. Theres just no way of getting close enough whilst sticking to where you're supposed to be though...
